Why I Love SimplePractice

There are very few things that will increase your productivity and streamline your practice like amazing practice management software!

I could easily write a gigantic post about all the benefits and why I love using this particular kind of tool.

Instead, I will give you a review of my personal favorite option, which is SimplePractice.

How it makes my life easier:

SimplePractice really lives up to it’s name. It is simple to use and makes routine tasks in my growing group practice a breeze.

Everything from scheduling client appointments, writing progress notes, sending automated appointment reminders, managing invoicing and billing, taking credit card payments and the list goes on.

I can’t even imagine going back to paper files, time consuming invoicing and trying to track client payments manually!

What I love:

  • The clean design just looks great, which is important to me!
  • It is stable and reliable
  • It automates things like appt. reminders, credit card payments & monthly invoicing (huge time saver)
  • My staff don’t need much training to get up to speed
  • The team at SimplePractice is constantly developing and improving the software
  • The secure messaging, eForms and client portal features are excellent (to name a few)

What I don’t love:

There truly is no perfect electronic health record option, but in my opinion SimplePractice comes close and is constantly improving.

With that said, there are a couple things that need work and are worth mentioning.

Some people don’t like that there is no live phone support option. This honestly has not been much of an issue for me. Plus, they do offer quite a few training and support options, including online classes and even 1:1 video chats that you can schedule at a convenient time.

The scheduling options are great for individual or couple’s therapy, but I would love improvements that make scheduling groups and family therapy easier.

There are also some missing or lacking features that are important to group practice owners. The two that come to mind are improved payroll reporting and room scheduling. Hopefully, there are some updates coming soon!

Ultimately, you have to evaluate the most important features your practice needs and choose the best software option accordingly.

It definitely makes sense to do your homework up front, because switching EHRs is no fun at all. However, if you need to switch EHRs the team at The Productive Therapist can help. 😉

As for me, I’m sticking with SimplePractice!
